An attempt to discover and document stories of people, events, and places linked to the freedom struggle of India at the micro level of the district has led to the creation of a Digital District Repository. Abdul Matlib Mazumdar

Abdul Matlib Mazumdar was born in Assam in 1885 and dedicated his life to the cause of Indian independence. A multifaceted and diverse contribution was made by Mazumdar to the Indian freedom movement.

As part of several protests and rallies, he delivered speeches that galvanized public support for independence. As a prolific writer, Mazumdar contributed significantly to spreading awareness of the plight of India under colonial rule through his articles and essays.

As a staunch supporter of Mahatma Gandhi's nonviolent resistance movement, he participated in several Satyagraha movements. Mazumdar was arrested in 1930 as a result of his involvement in the Salt Satyagraha movement, which challenged the British salt monopoly. Additionally, he contributed significantly to the policy and agenda-setting of the Indian National Congress. He played a key role in organizing protests and rallies in Assam during the Quit India movement in 1942.

As a political and social activist, Mazumdar made significant contributions to the freedom movement in India. Furthermore, he worked tirelessly in his community to promote literacy and education. India's freedom movement was enriched by Abdul Matlib Mazumdar's multifaceted contributions. In addition to participating in several protests and rallies, he was a prolific writer, an advocate for education and literacy, and a staunch supporter of nonviolent resistance.
