Scheme of Capacity Building for Service Provides

Brief Description:

The main objective of this initiative is to provide education, training and certification to the tourism service providers at every levels.

Implementing Agencies: Ministry of Tourism, Indiatourism Offices, Institutes of Hotel Management and Food Craft Institutes including such institutes approved by the AICTE, Indian Institute of Tourism & Travel Management, NCHMCT, Tourism Departments of State / UT Governments, State Tourism Development Corporations, India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), State/Central Training/academic Institutions and the academic & skill Training Institutes/registered organisations/entities in the private sector engaged in providing training in the hospitality and Tourism sector

Nature of Assistance:

The training is provided free of cost or partial contribution by the trainees. Wage loss compensation is given to the  trainees (service providers) i.e. Rs 300 per day (if the trainee is not employed and getting salary from any organisation).

Who can apply?

Trainees should be 18 years and above.

Training programmes shall be conducted to develop the following Service providers: Persons engaged in providing services to a tourist will be termed as Service Providers viz. Persons employed in Hotels / Restaurants / Eating joints such as Cooks /Servers /Waiters /Helpers / Front office staff / Reception counter staff / Food Kiosks / Dhaba staff / Personnel engaged in handling tourists viz. Immigration staff / Airport staff, Centre / State Tourism Department staff /Security staff, Police Department staff/Guides /Monuments staff /Tourist Centre staff / Taxi /Bus Driver and Coach Staff, Railway staff / ex-service men, etc. People in rural areas engaged in art & craft, culture and eco tourism activities. This list is only illustrative and not exhaustive. In addition, persons engaged in teaching, administration and planning in areas specific to tourism, travel and hospitality will also be treated as service providers.

Hunar Se Rozgar Tak Initiative

Brief Description:

Under the scheme, skill development programmes are organised for persons with not much means and in need to acquire skills facilitative to employment.

The Govt. sponsored Tourism & Hospitality Institutes, Private Tourism/Hospitality Institutes, State Tourism Development Corporations and State Governments etc organise the skill development programmes under the scheme.

Nature of assistance:

The training is offered for free to the trainees. Each trainee is entitled for a stipend based on scheme norms.

Who can apply?

Those who are in the age group of 18 to 28 years will be eligible. The applicant should be minimum 8th pass specific to courses for event facilitators and skin care & spa therapy, Golf Assistants/Caddies, tourist facilitator and minimum 10th pass specific to course for security guards, driving. For the courses for Tour Assistants, Transfer Assistants and Office Assistants, the applicant should be graduate in any stream.

How to apply?

Every implementing body will publish advertisement in the newspapers for conducting the programme. Trainees can apply to the respective institute.
