Wage Compensation Scheme for Pregnant Women in Tea Gardens
Brief objective
The wage compensation scheme for pregnant women in tea gardens of the state is intended to provide better health and nutrition supplements to the pregnant women.
Benefits to the citizens
An amount of Rs. 12,000 will be given to the pregnant women so that they care take care of themselves and the unborn baby without compromising the livelihood of their family.
Incentive are paid in four installments as follows:
- 1st Installment - Rs 2000/- at the time of registration within 1st trimester.
- 2nd Installment – Rs 4000/- during 6th month of pregnancy.
- 3rd Installment- Rs. 3000/ - at the time of institutional delivery at Government Health Institutions.
- 4th Installment- Rs 3000/ at six week post delivery.
Eligibility
- Pregnant women who are residents of Assam and who work on tea garderns. The pregnant women may be Temporary worker, permanent worker or non-worker – all are eligible.
- Women belonging to BPL category
- Two child norms of Government of Assam will be applicable. That means, the scheme is applicable up to two children only and the pregnant women should not be below 18 years of age.
