The Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), founded in 1987 comprises India’s most distinguished engineers, engineer-scientists and technologists covering the entire spectrum of engineering disciplines. INAE functions as an apex body and promotes the practice of Engineering & Technology and the related sciences for their application to solving problems of national importance. The Academy also provides a forum for futuristic planning for country’s development requiring engineering and technological inputs and brings together specialists from such fields as may be necessary for comprehensive solutions to the needs of the country.
Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship
Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) and Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology (DST) had launched the INAE-SERB, DST Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship in the year 2017 to recognize, encourage and support translational research by Individuals working in various capacities of engineering profession, in public funded institutions in the country. Nominations are accepted for the Fellowship throughout the year. In addition, calls for nominations are announced in each Financial Year.

AICTE-INAE Teachers Research Fellowship Scheme (AICTE-INAE TRF Scheme)
AICTE and INAE have launched the AICTE-INAE Teachers Research Fellowship Scheme for Engineering Teachers for Doctoral Research in Central Laboratories in order to promote a research culture amongst the faculty in AICTE approved engineering institutions. Under this scheme, engineering teachers in AICTE approved engineering colleges/institutions shall be sponsored to pursue research in Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)/ Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO)/ Department of Space (DOS)/ Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) laboratories leading to the award of a Ph.D. degree in the chosen field of study. The Ph.D. degree will be awarded by the concerned organizations of CSIR / DRDO / DAE / DOS.
AICTE-INAE Distinguished Visiting Professorship Scheme (AICTE-INAE DVP Scheme)
The Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) launched a Distinguished Visiting Professorship (DVP) Scheme jointly with AICTE in 1999. The scheme envisages promotion of industry-institute interaction by facilitating the dissemination of knowledge through the expertise of experienced and knowledgeable persons from industry to integrate their rich industrial experience with technical education. The scheme has received very enthusiastic response from industry and engineering research institutions over the years. Since the year 2018, the scheme has also been made applicable to all retired INAE Fellows.

An AICTE-INAE Travel Grant Scheme for Engineering Students from AICTE approved Engineering College / Institution to present papers abroad has been launched for enhancing the quality of engineering education in the country. The objective of the scheme is to provide partial travel assistance and registration fees to Bachelors and Masters Level engineering students for presenting a research paper in an international scientific event (conference / seminar / symposium / workshop / exhibition etc.) in order to encourage engineering students to engage in research. The proposal(s) received duly completed in all respects will be evaluated by subject experts.

INAE Youth Forum

Innovative Student Projects Award
INAE instituted the Innovative Student Projects Award since 1998 to identify innovative and creative research projects undertaken by the students in the engineering institutions, and to give an early recognition and incentives to them. Potentially innovative projects / theses are assessed at three levels, viz., B.E. / B.Tech. / M.E. / M.Tech. and Ph.D. nominations will be accepted subject to fulfilling the eligibility requirement.
Life Time Contribution Award in Engineering
To recognise life time contribution in engineering made by eminent persons to any branch of engineering within the purview of the Academy. Any citizen of India who has made distinguished contributions in the field of engineering / engineering research / engineering education / technology development / engineering services or management which have brought prestige to the nation and regarded as landmarks of technological excellence in the country, is eligible for nomination. In case the nominee is an INAE Fellow, he should not be a member of the INAE Governing Council during the year of the award.
Professor Jai Krishna and Professor S.N. Mitra Memorial Awards
The purpose of the award is to institute awards in memory of late Prof. Jai Krishna, Foundation President and Prof. S.N. Mitra, first Honorary Secretary, a Past Vice- President and a Foundation Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering.
Prof. Jai Krishna Award shall be given each year in the disciplines of Engineering Section I (Civil Engineering), Engineering Section III (Mechanical Engineering), Engineering Section IV (Chemical Engineering), Engineering Section VII (Aerospace Engineering) and Engineering Section VIII (Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering).
Prof. S. N. Mitra Memorial Award shall be given each year, in the disciplines of Engineering Section II (Computer Engineering and Information Technology), Engineering Section V (Electrical Engineering), Engineering Section VI (Electronics & Communication Engineering), Engineering Section IX (Energy Engineering) and Engineering Section X (Interdisciplinary and Special Engineering Fields and Leadership in Academia, R & D and Industry).
INAE Outstanding Teachers Award
The purpose of the award is to honour INAE Fellows who have excelled in the field of teaching in Indian Colleges, Universities, and Institutions, and have provided guidance towards technology development and inspired students to take up careers in Engineering and Technology. The teacher should be a Fellow of INAE and be nominated by two Fellows of INAE and should not be a member of the INAE Governing Council during the year of the award. The nominee should be a Fellow of INAE and working or have worked in India for a minimum of 10 years, and have at least 20 years of teaching experience at undergraduate or postgraduate level in any College / University/ Institution. The nominees should have been recognized for their outstanding abilities in teaching already by peers, institutes, and students. The outstanding teacher should be of unquestionable honesty, integrity, and moral character. The quality of teaching and research can also be measured in terms of best teacher awards obtained by the nominees in their own institutes.
INAE Woman Engineer of the Year Award
The purpose of the award is to recognize and honour deserving women engineers, every year, who have made outstanding contributions to any field of engineering and technology in India and may serve as role models to budding women engineering professionals in the future. Woman engineers working in India, between the age of 40 to 60 years. The award is to be bestowed on an individual only, who should be citizen of India. In case the nominee is an INAE Fellow, she should not be a member of the INAE Governing Council during the year of the award.
INAE Young Entrepreneur Award
The INAE Young Entrepreneur Award is instituted to encourage and recognize innovation and entrepreneurship among Young Engineers. The engineering innovations / inventions / concepts that have been actually realized and implemented in industry either in new processes or products would be given preference. Both innovation and entrepreneurship together would be considered important and young innovators from Academia / Research Organization or Industry whose novel engineering / technology ideas have been translated into successful start up enterprises would be given preference. Any citizen of India not older than 45 years are eligible.
INAE Young Engineer Award
The purpose of the award is to recognize outstanding achievements / contributions made by Young Engineers with strong potential for future professional growth impact in any branch of engineering. Any citizen of India not older than 35 years holding the first tertiary degree in engineering / technology. Any citizen of India not older than 35 years holding the first tertiary degree in engineering / technology are eligible. A nomination is valid for one year only. A candidate may be nominated for three times in total subject to his / her age not exceeding 35 years.
