Focus Area Science Technology Summer Fellowship (FAST-SF)

With a view of enhancing the spread of Science and Technology in the specific regions of the country, the Inter Academy Panel has initiated the Focus Area Science Technology Summer Fellowship (FAST-SF).

National Science Academies

                      

FAST-SF

FAST-SF will be for students and teachers studying/working in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. Students and teachers from universities and colleges from North-Eastern states of India, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh affiliated to UGC/AICTE/MCI/Accredited Institutions of State Universities can apply for these fellowship. The selected students/teachers studying/working in these states, to work with scientists associated with three Academies’ anywhere in the country.

Eligibility Criteria

Students

Applicants should be studying in one of the following:

  • B.S. / B.Sc. / B.V.Sc. (II year only)
  • B.Pharm. (III and IV years only)
  • B.E. / B.Tech. / B.C.A. (II and III years only)
  • B.Arch. (II, III and IV years only)
  • M.S. / M.Sc. / M.V.Sc. / M.Pharm. (I year only)
  • M.E. / M.Tech. / M.C.A. / M.Arch. (I year only)
  • (5-year integrated) M.S. / M.Sc. / M.Tech. / M.B.B.S. (II, III, IV years only)
  • Pharm.D (III, IV years only)
  • (Dual degree) B.Tech. + M.Tech. (II, III, IV years only)
  • (Dual degree) B.E. + M.Sc. (II, III, IV years only)
  • (Dual degree) B.S. + M.S. (II, III, IV years only)
  • Integrated Ph.D. (I, II years only)
  • M.Sc. Tech. (I, II years only)

Teachers

Teachers working in North-Eastern states, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh only can apply. The minimum percentage of average marks in core subjects only (i.e. excluding languages) from X standard up to post-graduation (whichever years completed) should be 65% or above. The minimum percentage of average marks does not apply for teachers. Ph.D. students are not eligible.

Selection Process

Applications will be issued in the month of October-November and should be submitted by logging onto one of the following websites:

Information of selection along with concurrence of the guide will be despatched around February–March. The selected candidate should work with the assigned guide for two months any time during the calendar year though summer months are preferred. The selected students/teachers will be provided appropriate round trip train fare and a monthly fellowship to meet their living expenses at the place of work.
