Shri Shyam Sundar Sharma and the Praja Mandal Movement

Shri Shyam Sundar Sharma participated in the Salt March in Ajmer in the year 1932. He was jailed along with other freedom fighters such as Shri Hanuwant Singhji and Shri Mukut Bihari Lal Verma.

He also propagated and promoted Khadi and carried other mass mobilization campaigns under the Praja Mandal Movement.

Praja Mandal Movement was a part of the Indian independence struggle from the 1920s in which people living in the princely states, who were subject to the rule of local aristocrats rather than the British Raj, campaigned against the feudatory rulers, and sometimes also the British administration.

He made several effort towards the literacy of Harijans, and their upliftment.
